Paithalmala,
also known as Vaithalamala or Pythal Mala is a mountain in Kannur District of
Kerala State in Southern India. Located at Pottenplave town, this is the main
peak in Kannur, at a height of 1,372 meters above the ocean level.
The
peak lies in Kerala- Karnataka boundary, neighboring to the Coorg Hills as an
extension to the jungle of Kodagu Hills of the Western Ghat Mountains. The
mountain and the hills of Paithalmala coat over 300 acres of land with its
photo-perfect views. A 6 km hike throughout the forest and grasslands is
necessary to reach the peak.
